The Cleveland Browns have added depth to their wide receiver position by acquiring third-year pro Sammie Coates from the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Browns also received a 2019 seventh-round pick from the Steelers. In return, the Browns sent a 2018 6th-round draft selection to their AFC North rivals.
The #Browns have been in the market for a WR, and they land former #Steelers WR Sammie Coates. Send back a 6th round pick.

The pick the Browns sent to the Steelers has some irony as well.
The 6th-round pick Browns are sending to Steelers is the one they acquired last year in the Justin Gilbert trade.

Coates, who played his collegiate ball at Auburn, was drafted in the 3rd round by Pittsburgh in 2015. After only playing in six games his rookie season, Coates saw an uptick in production last season. Coates only caught 21 passes but made the most of them, gaining 435 receiving yards and scoring twice during the campaign. Coates had an average reception gain of 20.7 yards per catch, which is a healthy dosage of yards. He became a bigger part of the Pittsburgh offense when Martavis Bryant was suspended for the entirety of last season due to failing the substance-abuse policy the NFL has in place.
Coates will be a welcomed addition to the wide out position, as he can become a dangerous weapon either outside the numbers or inside the slot for the Browns.
