The Cleveland Browns will take on the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday afternoon in hopes of sweeping the series this season. Cleveland beat Pittsburgh a couple of weeks ago when there was a blizzard along the lake shore and at Huntington Bank Field. The Browns made a late-game comeback to win 29-24. Now, Cleveland comes in with a lowly record of 3-9 while the Steelers are looking to wrap up the AFC Division crown with a 9-3 mark.
While the Browns will not be going to the playoffs this season they can still spoil the chances of their AFC North challengers. With that, let’s tackle a few questions about this game and some of the things Browns fans are pondering.
1st and goal: Will QB Jameis Winston continue to be that “wild and crazy” quarterback with his play or can he show more consistency?
There were many moments last week when Jameis Winston was amazing, throwing the ball down the field with four touchdown passes. However, he also threw three interceptions, including two that were run back for touchdowns. Winston has had a history of this throughout his career where he plays well in stretches but can make ginormous mistakes a moment later.
The former No. 1 pick of the 2015 NFL Draft has certainly gotten Browns fans’ attention these last few weeks. Many hope that he returns next year as the everyday starter for the team. Time will tell, as we watch over these next five games.
2nd and goal: What will Jerry Jeudy do for an encore after a record-breaking game a week ago?
Jerry Jeudy had his homecoming a week ago in Denver, his former team, and boy did he put on a show in front of his former fans. It was must-see tv, and he enjoyed every second of it, except for the fact that his current team lost.
He caught nine passes for 235 yards in the game. It included a beautiful long pass reception for 70 yards and the score. He’s been racking up receptions and yards gained while Winston has been quarterback. He certainly looks the role of No. 1 wide receiver these days.
In the “Snow Globe Game” a couple of weeks ago against the Steelers he had six receptions for 85 yards. I’d expect to see Jeudy play an important role again in this one.
3rd and goal: Who wins the battle between Myles Garrett and that other guy?
After the Thursday night in Cleveland two weeks ago, Myles Garrett had a lot to say about himself being the best defensive end when compared to Steeler defensive end TJ Watt. There’s been a lot of chatter about who’s the best.
Garrett had a great game against the Steelers two weeks ago, recording three sacks. He certainly played better than Watt on that snowy night. I suspect that Garrett will continue his onslaught of the offensive line of the Steelers. The Browns need another big Myles game in this one. As for the other guy, who cares!
4th and goal: Can the Browns beat the Steelers in Pittsburgh again?
We all remember the 2020 Browns had a season to remember including a dramatic and dominating playoff win against the Steelers in playoffs. It has been a rare occurrence to find a Browns win in the Steel City. So when the team won that playoff game, it felt like a huge weight had been lifted off the shoulders of Cleveland fans.
Unfortunately, the team hasn’t won a regular season game there since. Actually, the last time the Browns won in Pittsburgh was in 2003 and before that it was 1999. So earning two wins over the last 25 years just isn’t going to cut it.
What was once a series that was dominated by the Browns, the Steelers have turned the tide in recent times. They now lead the overall series 81-64-1.
