CLEVELAND, OH – On Wednesday afternoon, news broke that free agent wide receiver Mecole Hardman was signing with the NY Jets. Not even an hour later, the NY Jets traded wide receiver Elijah Moore to the Cleveland Browns. The Browns were looking to upgrade their receiving core this offseason. They looked into the Cardinals’ DeAndre Hopkins and Denver’s Jerry Jeudy. Seeming that the asking price for those receivers was too high, they landed Elijah Moore from the NY Jets. The Browns traded pick No. 42 in the upcoming draft to land Moore and pick No. 74.

Career Numbers
Moore is still young, coming to Cleveland at the age of 22. He does have 2 years under his belt already though. In his 2 years with the Jets, Moore hauled in 80 catches for 984 yards and 6 touchdowns. While the numbers are not astonishing, Moore has great speed that can help create separation from defenders in the open field. Last season, Moore commented on his on-field chemistry with New York’s QB Zach Wilson stating, “I don’t even know, I couldn’t even tell you. I don’t get the ball. I don’t know.” Moore will find himself with a brand-new quarterback in Cleveland with Deshaun Watson. He will be joining Amari Cooper and Donovan Peoples-Jones in Cleveland’s wide receiver room that will boost the young core.
What it Means for New York
It has been made clear that Green Bay Packers’ quarterback Aaron Rodgers wants to play for the Jets this upcoming season. It has been known within the organization for quite some time now. The deal has been delayed due to compensation issues. With the Jets securing the No. 42 pick from the Browns, it could add to the package for the Green Bay quarterback.
