Cleveland Indians outfielder Michael Brantley suffered another setback in his efforts to return to action, as the team revealed that he recently experienced a recurrence of right shoulder symptoms while progressing through hitting activities late last week.
Brantley visited Dr. Stephen O’Brien at the Hospital of Special Surgery in New York City on Monday, who confirmed that the left fielder is experiencing symptoms consistent with chronic biceps tendinitis.
The organization is currently conducting additional medical due diligence before they determine their next plan for Brantley going forward.
The Tribe finds themselves in a dogfight for first place in the American League Central and although Brantley’s return to the lineup would be a great boost when he is fully healthy, the likelihood of that happening any time soon continues to shrink as the regular season winds down.
