STRONGSVILLE, OHIO – Strongsville raced out to a 27-11 lead after one quarter and coasted to an 80-64 non-conference win over Berea-Midpark on Tuesday night. The Mustangs’ 6-foot-6 senior forward Omari Peek had nine first-quarter points and finished with 26 to lead all scorers.
Berea-Midpark rallied in the second half attempting to close a 25-point halftime deficit. But Strongsville’s Joe Lake sank four consecutive third-quarter buckets to keep the Mustangs comfortably in front.
Lake, a senior guard, scored 14 points for the game. The second half was notable for the sharpshooting display put on by underclassmen from both teams. Berea-Midpark sophomore Josh Finkovich sank four 3-pointers, a major portion of his team-leading 16 points.
His teammate, sophomore Jordan Cupach, banged home three triples and scored 11 points. For Strongsville, freshman guard Tre Massey sank five baskets in the fourth quarter and finished with 11 points.
