The Columbus Blue Jackets fell 3-2 in overtime to the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday night, but still came away with a point, their fifth of the season.
Columbus (2-2-1), is off to a solid start and compared to last season, when the Blue Jackets lost their first eight games of the season, the team is in great shape.
After losing their first two games at home to Boston and San Jose, the Blue Jackets defeated Chicago and Dallas, and came away with that tie in LA.
They finish off a West Coast road trip with games at San Jose and Anaheim, which will not be easy.
San Jose already defeated Columbus 3-2 at Nationwide Arena and going into the “Shark Tank” on Thursday will be an even tougher test.
The reigning Western Conference champions are 4-3 on the season.
The Anaheim Ducks (2-3-2) will host the Jackets on Friday night.
It’s early in the season, as Columbus has only played five games, but if the Jackets can come away with two or three points in these next two games, they could move up to the top four in the Metropolitan Division, in which they finished last place in 2015-16.
The Jackets currently sit in seventh place, but have played the fewest games in the division.
