NFL Wild Card Saturday Odds
The following odds are from BetMGM Sportsbook as of Jan. 12.
Seattle Seahawks at San Francisco 49ers
Game Start: 4:30 p.m. ET
Venue: Levi’s Stadium
Team Records: Seattle (9-8), San Francisco (13-4)
Team | Point Spread | Moneyline | Total |
---|---|---|---|
Seattle Seahawks | +9.5 (-110) | +375 | Over 42.5 (-110) |
San Francisco 49ers | -9.5 (-110) | -500 | Under 42.5 (-110) |
The odds are weighed heavily in favor of the 49ers after a successful season, led by rookie QB Brock Purdy.
The favorite, San Francisco, is heading into the matchup with 10 consecutive wins. Purdy has thrown at least two touchdowns in six consecutive games, while still utilizing Christian McCaffrey for a successful running game. Purdy is not the only QB making his first playoff appearance, but there is room to assume there will be some nerves attached to his start on the field.
Seattle, however, barely slid into Wild Card Weekend with a 9-8 record thanks to an OT win against the Los Angeles Rams and an upset of the Green Bay Packers by the Detroit Lions. It all formed the perfect scenario for the Seahawks. The Seahawks are not completely out of the question to win this game if QB Geno Smith can efficiently connect with DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, the two receivers that are having exceptional and underrated seasons.
Los Angeles Chargers at Jacksonville Jaguars
Game Start: 8:15 p.m. ET
Venue: TIAA Bank Field
Team Records: Los Angeles (10-7), Jacksonville (9-8)
Team | Point Spread | Moneyline | Total |
---|---|---|---|
Los Angeles Chargers | -2.5 (-110) | -145 | Over 47.5 (-110) |
Jacksonville Jaguars | +2.5 (-110) | +120 | Under 47.5 (-110) |
With both teams off to a rocky start this season and two young QBs in their first playoff games, this game should show a more even matchup. The first time these two teams saw each other on the field was back in Week 3, resulting in a Jacksonville 38-10 victory. The teams have both seen major changes since then.
Jacksonville is riding a five-game win streak and QB Trevor Lawrence has gained the confidence needed to make the team more of a force on the field. Also notable, the Jags’ defense has been holding opponents to 23 points or fewer in four of the last five games. Last time out against the Titans, in a crucial play, Rayshawn Jenkins made a hit to the Titans’ QB, resulting in a 37-yard TD return by Josh Allen. Leading more of a mental fight to playoffs, the Jaguars will need to keep in mind that the Chargers are looking for revenge for the early season loss.
QB Justin Herbert faces more physical challenges in the upcoming game. With multiple injuries impacting the team, the starting squad is still unknown. Receiver Mike Williams did not participate in practice this week with a back injury, but Joey Bosa was back in full participation after a groin injury. Will the defensive force be enough to stagger the Jags’ offense and get the Lawrence sack they were aiming for back in Week 3?
