On Tuesday, September 19th, the Boys Varsity Soccer Team hosted Wadsworth High School. This was a highly anticipated matchup of the Bears who are ranked #4 in the Greater Cleveland Area and the Grizzlies who are ranked #4 in the State.
The Grizzlies struck first in the first half to take a 1 to 0 lead. The Grizzlies continued to pressure Goalie Ryan Newman and the Bears Defense throughout the second half. The Bears Defense withstood the pressure and continued to push the ball up the field to the midfielders and forwards.
Finally with 19:45 to go, Topher Garcia scored on a beautiful shot to the lower right corner of the goal to tie the game. With 4:40 to go Ryan Benefiel sent a beautiful pass to an open and streaking down the field Hayden Haffner who side stepped the defender and sent a shot by the goalkeeper for a GOAL!!! The Bears were now up 2 to 1 and then held off the shocked Grizzlies for the VICTORY! What a Beautiful game!
The Boys Varsity Team keeps its undefeated season alive and their record is now at 7 wins, 0 losses and 3 ties. Come cheer the Bears on as they travel to take on Strongsville High School on Saturday, September 23rd at 7:00 PM.
