CLEVELAND – Indians starter Trevor Bauer is having a ‘lights out’ year to say the least, and on Tuesday his huge season in terms of strikeouts earned him a rather huge honor.
With his 7th strikeout of the night, which came in the 5th inning against Reds All-Star Eugenio Suarez, Bauer became just the third Indians pitcher in history to rack up 160 strikeouts before the All-Star break.
The feat has only been accomplished by two other Indians pitchers, and they are pitchers who names Indians fans should know all too well – Bob Feller and Sam McDowell.
Bauer came into the Tuesday affair third in the American League in strikeouts, trailing just Chris Sale of the Red Sox and Gerrit Cole of the Astros.
He’ll get a shot to add to his already huge total on Sunday when he’s back on the mound against the Yankees at Progressive Field to wrap up the first half of the season.
