Browns fans are beaming today after the teams’ win over the Falcons Sunday at First Energy Stadium, and many of them are even more happy about the progress of first-year QB Baker Mayfield, who had a perfect QB rating on Sunday, starting the game against the Falcons hitting his first 12 passes.
Many folks are calling Mayfield the best Browns rookie quarterback in team history, and he’s drawing comparisons to a certain sidearm throwing QB who also took the Browns and fans by storm back in 1985.
That QB of course was Bernie Kosar, who in that first season helped the Browns to an 8-8 record, taking them to the playoffs before a tough loss to the Miami Dolphins and another QB, a Hall of Fame QB – Dan Marino.
While today’s NFL is vastly different from the game it was back 33 years ago, today we take a look at the stats and do a little comparison for the first seven games Kosar was as a Browns starter to Mayfield, and what the two did in their rookie seasons.
