2.) Seriously, where was the offense?
In a 4-game span (May 1st to May 5th) the Indians have only managed to score 6 runs in their previous 4 games. The offense seems to have disappeared. So far in the 2017 season, the Indians have scored a total of 124 runs and opposing teams have scored 118 runs. The Indians have a run differential of +6.
In the 2016 season, the Indians scored a total of 777 runs and allowed 676. The run differential of last season was the Indians scoring 101 runs more than the opposing team.
After struggling to start off the month of May. The Indians offense showed up in the 8th inning of Saturday’s matchup. Jason Kipnis tied the game 1-1 when he hit a 2 out single up the middle with runners at the corners.
In the 9th inning, Carlos Santana hit a solo homer to give the Indians their first lead of the game. Francisco Lindor made it back-to-back homers which gave the Indians a 3-1 lead.
Lindor’s homer in the 9th inning was his 8th of the season. In the 2016 season, Lindor had 15 homers throughout the whole season.
