1.) Struggles continue against Left Handed Pitching
Heading into the game on Saturday, the Indians have struggled against left-handed pitching to start off the 2017 season. As mentioned previously the Indians were 4-8 against lefties. The Royals sent Jason Vargas to the hill and Vargas pitched 6 innings, 4 hits, 2 walks, and 6 strikeouts.
After Vargas was done for the day, the Royals brought on another lefty pitcher Matt Strahm. Strahm ran into some trouble in the seventh inning but an amazing catch by Alex Gordon got Strahm out of trouble.
The Indians eventually did get on the board though when the Royals brought on right-handed relief pitcher Joakim Soria.
The Indians added two more runs in the 9th inning against another righty Kelvin Herrera.
