“Their corner was pressed on Carson, and their number one safety was up on our slot, Carson can beat a lot of press coverage, and I believe in him and I just put it up to him and he made the play,” Pappas said.

The Demons would not go away, as they Bialowas and the offense rallied, with their first score of the half being a touchdown pass to Rose to cut it to 34-21 with 7:43 left in the third quarter.

The Shoremen used runs to set up a 4th-and-one, and instead of punting gave the ball to Nelson who gutted out three yards to seal the win for Avon Lake.

The Shoremen will be in action next Friday night against Lakewood at home. Westlake will host North Olmsted who fell to Avon Friday night.

Player of the Game: Avon Lake QB Mark Pappas had a big night, and was the offensive star for the Shoremen, throwing for 251 yards on 14-for-24 passing with three touchdowns.

“Our goal is to make the playoffs, and make some noise in the playoffs,” Pappas said. “The way we played against Avon last week that’s not going to happen.

“The message this week was we need to get better, and we need to make more plays, and we need to finish.”

imageThe senior still isn’t sure where his future lies after this season, but he knows he wants to continue playing football somewhere on Saturday’s in 2017.

“I would love to play in college if the opportunity comes around,” Pappas said. The QB said that he’s gotten a few inquiries from a couple Division III and some Division II schools.

“I’d play anywhere, but I want to like the school first,” the QB said.

If the NFL isn’t in Pappas’ future?

“I would love to be a neurologist, but that’s a lot of schooling,” Pappas said. “Or maybe something in business, my sister is in business.”
