ESPN’s Marc Stein reported Friday the Atlanta Hawks have emerged as the next team to show interest in Cleveland Cavaliers General Manager David Griffin.
League sources say Joe Dumars and David Griffin are expected to emerge as candidates in the Hawks' search for a new lead front-office voice

The Cavs GM becomes a free-agent after this season and reports already indicate Griffin to be the top choice of the Orlando Magic to take over as team president.
Atlanta Hawks head coach Mike Budenholzer stepped down from the role of team president following the 2016-17 season and Griffin now appears to have multiple options open if he does not re-sign with Cleveland.
Budenholzer will still serve as head coach, but won’t have as much of a role in front office decision-making.
Sam Amico recently reported LeBron James has been vocally pushing for the organization to get an extension done with Griffin, but he has no intentions of meeting with owner Dan Gilbert to discuss the issue directly.
The Hawks have some interesting offseason moves to make this summer (most notably the Paul Millsap situation) and apparently they want someone with a pedigree like Griffin to have control over those types of decisions.
