On Friday, Kyrie Irving told reporters he is “good” for Game 7, despite “tweaking” his foot in Game 6 on Thursday night.
On Saturday, Andre Iguodala missed practice due to back stiffness, but Warriors head coach Steve Kerr told reporters “We had a film session and a walkthrough and once we were finished with our walkthrough, he went and got treatment. And we had a light practice that he did not take part in. He got treatment instead. And he should be good to go tomorrow. He’s feeling pretty well. Hopefully another 24 hours and he’ll be even better.”
These two players have been two of the biggest contributors for each of their teams in the Finals and since they both might be playing banged up, it will be interesting to see how they look as the game goes on.
Iguodala was Finals MVP in 2015 and Irving has been the second-leading scorer of this series, as well as the second-leading scorer for the Cavs in the 2016 Playoffs.
In three of the first four games, Iguodala did an admirable job containing LeBron James, but in Games 3, 5, and 6 the four-time MVP has been dominant as ever.
Some of LeBron’s great performance in Game 6 could be credited to Iguodala’s back injury, but the way King James has been rolling, there may not have been anyone who could slow down that unstoppable force.
Irving’s status will be of great significance to the Cavs, as their only road win of this series came in Game 5, when the point guard scored 41 points.
If the 24-year-old is not playing at a high level or close to what he did in Game 5, who will step up for Cleveland aside from LeBron?
Both of these players are guys to keep a close eye on early in the game and we’ll see how their health plays a factor as the game progresses.
