Sadly the Indians continued to slide this week with some seriously bad starting pitching. They dropped 3 of 4 to the last place Minnesota Twins and then dropped 2 out of 3 to the Yankee’s in the Bronx. The starting pitching looked awful throughout.
The Cleveland Gladiators brought home a playoff win back to Cleveland this weekend as they traveled to San Diego to defeat the LA Kiss 56-52. Things will look to get tougher for the Gladiators however as next week they will play the Arizona Rattlers, who beat Cleveland on July 24th by a final of 68-20, and beat the Gladiators in both meetings this season. They will have their work cut out for them.
The Browns continued training camp this week and took the show south down 71 on Saturday for the inter squad scrimmage played at Ohio Stadium in Columbus.
Speaking of NFL football, the Hall of Fame Game was canceled Sunday night as the Field at Tom Benson Stadium was considered to be unplayable and dangerous.
Hall of Fame president/executive director David Baker called the decision to cancel the game “difficult,” but added that it was an “easy, ethical decision.”
Both teams were worried about player safety as crews sprayed solvent on the area around the midfield logo, but it was too little too late.
In national news on the Golf Circuit, Russell Knox, wons the Travelers Championship and 500 points in the FedEx Cup standings. Earlier in the day, Gold history was made as Jim Furyk shot the first round of 58 in PGA Tour history.
An exciting day on the greens for sure!
Have a great week!
