CLEVELAND, Ohio – It was another wild weekend in Cleveland sports following one of the greatest weeks of all time. Let’s break it down!
The Cavaliers settled down long enough from the parade to attend the NBA draft Thursday night and get the weekend kicked off early by acquiring the draft rights of the 54th overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft from the Atlanta Hawks for $2.4 million.
They used the pick to select 5’9″ point guard Kay Felder out of Oakland.
Felder was near the top of the nation in scoring, averaging 24.4 points per game and led the nation in assists, averaging 9.3 per game.
The Cavaliers also made noise in the FA game, as rumors have them interested in former league MVP Dirk Nowitski.
Also, as reported by NEO Sports Mat Medley, news broke Saturday afternoon that Cavs point guard Kyrie Irving will play in the 2016 Rio Olympics.
In hockey news, as reported by NEO Sports Matthew Medley, The Columbus Blue Jackets traded Kerby Rychel, their first-round pick from 2013 to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Columbus receives defenseman Scott Harrington and a conditional draft pick.
It was a busy weekend for the Jackets as they selected Pierre-Luc DuBois with the third overall pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.
The Browns couldn’t stay out of the news, as former quarterback Johnny Manziel is now on death watch as both his family, agent, and friends are concerned for his life as he continue to fall deeper into the cesspool that a life of drugs will bring you. We hope and pray he can find the help he needs and quickly.
