All Good in my Old Hood Guardians Edition

Friday nights sold out crowd at Progressive Field witnessed the very good, the not so good and the ugly in baseball, or Cleveland Guardians baseball! The good guys won 6-5. That is very good. Nail biter? Heck yes and I’m glad I only have 7 to chew. I actually was tempted during another bullpen melt down to switch to USA Women’s soccer! Remember this as Earle Bruce taught me: “In any sport a win is a win is a win.” Look at the Phils line up, It is stocked with top-of-the-line talent, but the Guardians again refused to lose (very good) with 6 runs on 13 hits. Gavin Williams was not so good! WHAT MUNCH!! 4 IP, 5 hits and 1 run is not good? NOPE not when you have 3 K’s and 4 walks. That’s it. Walks add to the pitch count and yes put runners on base. NOT GOOD! I should have added a deplorable above as Tim Herrin fits that category, at least he did last night. In 9, 10-year-old baseball I would pull a pitcher if he walked back-to-back hitters. Well Timmy walked 3 in a row. Get in your car and drive yourself to Cbus. Yup he was ugly. Sandlin was ugly too and poor Tito, who is he going to trust? Sandlin and De Los Santos were my “trust guys” but last night Nick did NOT gain any trust. 1 IP, 2 hits, 3 runs, 1 K and 1 walk. The very good? Trevor Stephen with 5 outs! over 1 IP, 0 hits, 2 K’s ZERO WALKS and EMMANUEL was the top closer in the league AGAIN. Got a ground out, line out and ground out. ALSO VERY GOOD was the team putting 38,260 in a ballpark that seats 34,788! BRAVO too as the team hit a MILLION last night for the year so far.

One mo’ before I leave you for now. MYLES STRAW is not the whipping boy for the uniformed. Take all your stats and…well you know what to do. You must be the same folks that showed me Bobby Bradley’s velo and launch angle. Shesh Yes, his bat has been subpar however he has been heating up, Hit .255 Myles with a .333
OBP and as Tito says “any ball hit to CF is an out” will continue to be the mantra.
