CLEVELAND, Ohio- The Cleveland Monsters started a two-game set tonight against the Admirals of Milwaukee. The Monsters were on a two-game winning streak going into tonight’s game.
The game started off strong for both teams. There was a fast pace early, something that didnt necessarily lead to a lot of physical play. The Monsters had played a clean period for the most part of twenty minutes, as only a Jordan Maletta tripping penalty at the 1:38 mark put them on penalty kill duty. After one period, it was scoreless. The Monsters led shots on goal with a 15-9 advantage.
The second period was much of the same, as little miscues led to penalties. For most of this period, the Monsters had some gorgeous opportunities that just weren’t executed. From centering passes to making one too many passes, the Monsters couldn’t find a way to get the puck in the net. The second period ended with a 16-10 shots on goal advantage for Milwaukee, as they evened the game’s SOG category to twenty-five apiece.
The third period shaped out to be the most physical of the three frames, but it also led to sloppy play. The Monsters had one too many penalties, as the Jaime Sifers penalty turned to a power play goal for Milwaukee at the 7:23 mark of the period. Cleveland had a chance to tie things up with two late Admiral penalties, but they could not capitalize and suffered defeat to a final score of 1-0. The Monsters play Milwaukee at 5pm Saturday, looking to improve their 5-8-0-1 record this season.
