2. Third quarter woes no more
The third quarter kept the Cavs in the game as they mounted a comeback after trailing 56-49 at halftime.
They went on to outscore Indiana in the frame, 32-17, to head into the fourth quarter with an 81-73 lead.
Obviously, the Cavs made some shots in the frame, including four 3-pointers and 14 free throws. But they also made a key defensive adjustment. Rather than switching pretty much everything, which they had done in the first half, the Cavs made a concerted effort to keep bigs with bigs to try and slow guys like Sabonis, Trevor Booker and Thad Young.
“They put some pressure on our smalls either by scoring or just getting to the free throw line,” James said. “T-Lue made that adjustment, saw that in the third quarter, where we kept big on big and were able to rebound a lot of their misses when they did miss so it definitely helped us out a lot.”
LeBron says in the first half, Sabonis, Young and Booker were putting pressure on the Cavs guards when a guard ended up switched onto them. Says the adjustment of keeping bigs on bigs defensively helped remedy that. pic.twitter.com/uCQBghaCu2
