During this lull in Cleveland Browns news, as fans await the start of training camp in a few weeks, I would suggest one take a look at some of the highlight reels of current team running back Nick Chubb.
I’ve talked about Chubb and his chase of Jim Brown in the past. He is certainly on his way to coming close to Browns total rushing yards numbers. Regardless of if he does reach him or not, he is a special running back for the Browns and for the NFL and hopefully, when we look back at it, we can discuss the masterpiece that was Nick Chubb.
I watched some of the highlights of last year’s runs that he had on a YouTube link for 15 minutes and it was one amazing run after another. He may not be Jim Brown but when you really take a look at his runs and look at Jim Brown’s runs in the past, there are similarities. The power but also the footwork and bursts of speed are uncannily alike.
By this point, most Browns fans know how special Chubb is but I’m not sure we will know the magnitude of his greatness until he finishes his career and hopefully that’s with the Browns.
I will be at the doorsteps of Berea at Browns headquarters beating the door and telling them to resign the man for a third contract. I know that the NFL is all about the dollar bill, but I certainly hope that the folks within the organization recognize how unique this situation is with Chubb.
We are in the midst of watching history. Every time we watch Chubb pummel the opponent and scamper for five, six, or 10 yards, we are putting all the pieces together that will make up this masterpiece.
He will be inducted into the Hall of Fame after he finishes his career. Every time I watch Chubb run, I know that I am witnessing greatness and maybe it’s the same feeling that many people that watched the great Jim Brown run felt back in the day.
I expect this next season will be Chubb’s best season to date as he’s going into his sixth year. He has an excellent chance to move into second place all-time in Cleveland history only behind Brown in terms of total rushing yards.
If Chubb is given that third contract and stays in Cleveland, he will come close to Brown’s numbers and I for one want to see history made.
