A LOOK AT WHAT’S HAPPENING
CROSS COUNTRY
• The Vikings will take the week off from competition, and prepare for the 2015 Horizon League Championship that will take place on Saturday, October 31 in Cedarville, Ohio.
• Cleveland State placed eighth at the #JennaStrong Classic on Saturday with Samantha Butterbaugh (19:41) and Ashlyn Woods (19:45) earning all-meet honors after placing in the top-35.
MEN’S GOLF
• The Vikings conclude the fall season at the Dayton Flyer Invitational on Monday and Tuesday.
• Joey Krecic leads CSU with a 72.8 average, while Blake Prince and Paul Minko have a 73.3 average.
WOMEN’S GOLF
• CSU closes the fall season at the Dayton Flyer Invitational on Monday and Tuesday.
• The Vikings placed 13th at The Fall Preview last week as Allyson Hackman tied for 46th place with a 54-hole total of 241. She has a 78.0 scoring average this year.
MEN’S SOCCER
• CSU (6-6-1, 2-3-1) plays two matches this week, traveling to Ohio State on Wednesday and hosting Milwaukee on Saturday in the regular season home finale.
• The Vikings won two matches last week, earning 1-0 wins at Pittsburgh and at home vs. Belmont.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
• The Vikings (8-6-2, 4-2 HL) concludes a three-match road swing with a game at Wright State on Wednesday. CSU also hosts Oakland on Saturday in the regular season home finale.
• CSU split a pair of road matches last week, falling at UIC on Wednesday and winning 2-1 in double overtime at Northern Kentucky on Saturday. Kaila Sargema scored both goals in the win.
MEN’S SWIMMING & DIVING
• The Vikings open the home season with a meet against Gannon on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
• CSU opened the season on Friday, with a tri-meet at Cincinnati. The Vikings earned a 163-124 win over Xavier, but fell to Cincinnati.
• Philipp Sikatzki won the 100 Back (49.34), 100 Free (46.15) and 100 IM (51.65) and also held a leg in CSU’s winning 200 Medley Relay team that posted a final time of 1:31.51.
MEN’S SWIMMING & DIVING
• CSU hosts a pair of meets this weekend, welcoming Youngstown State to Busbey Natatorium on Friday and facing off with Gannon on Saturday.
• The Vikings opened the season with a tri-meet at Cincinnati, falling to Xavier and host Bearcats.
• Freshman Molly McNamara finished atop two individual events, winning the 200 Fly (2:06.10) and the 100 Fly (57.41).
MEN’S TENNIS
• CSU competes in their final tournament of the fall season this weekend, traveling to South Bend, Ind. for the five-day ITA Midwest Regional tournament (Thursday, October 22 – Monday, October 26).
• Entering the ITA tournament, Mirko Radosevic and Benjamin Slade each have a team-high seven singles wins, while Andre Mick has tallied six singles wins through the fall season.
WOMEN’S TENNIS
• The Vikings will close out the fall season at the ITA Midwest Regional this weekend, traveling to Ann Arbor, Mich. for the four-day tournament (Thursday, October 22 – Sunday, October 25).
• Victoria Bensimon and Princess Gbadamosi each have a team-best four singles wins this fall.
VOLLEYBALL
• The Vikings (18-4, 7-1 HL) start the second half of Horizon League play this weekend, making their annual trip to Wisconsin to face Green Bay (Friday, October 16) and Milwaukee (Saturday, October 17).
• CSU won both matches last week, defeating Valparaiso on Friday and UIC on Saturday.
• After last week’s contests, Gina Kilner now ranks ninth on the CSU career assists list with 1,466 helpers, while Dayna Roberts ranks 10th on the CSU career digs list with 1,056 digs.
VIKING OF THE WEEK
Grace Kauth, Volleyball, Junior, Vandalia, Ohio
Kauth led the first place Vikings to a pair of wins over the weekend, averaging 19.0 kills and 8.5 digs in two matches. She totaled a career-high 28 kills with 13 digs in a five-set win over Valparaiso and had 10 kills in a victory over UIC. Her 28 kills were the most in a match by a Horizon League player this year. It was her third 20-kill match of the season.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Philipp Sikatzki: The swimming junior won three events at Cincinnati (with Xavier), claiming the 100 backstroke, 100 freestyle and 100 IM.
Dayna Roberts: The volleyball senior became the first Viking with 1,900 assists and 1,050 digs in a career. She now ranks 10th on the CSU career digs list with 1,056.
Kaila Sargema: The women’s soccer junior scored both goals in a 2-1 win at Northern Kentucky, including the game-winner with 21 seconds left in double overtime.
