Two players for Cuyahoga Community College, aka Tri-C, have received recent honors, getting awards after great seasons in baseball and softball.
In baseball, Manny Rodriguez has been named a 2016 NJCAA Division II All-American, after hitting .375 for the Challengers, as well as ranking among the team’s top sluggers with six home runs, four triples and six doubles. He also scored 43 runs and added 32 RBI.
Rodriguez was named the 2016 Player of the Year by the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) following the season. He also earned a conference Player of the Week award.
The freshman from Cleveland’s Lincoln West High School has not yet declared a major as he works toward earning an associate degree from Tri-C.
In addition, softball player Serena Tucciarelli has been named a 2016 NJCAA Division II All-American.
The shortstop batted .427 for the Challengers, with three home runs, five triples and nine doubles among her 53 hits. She also added 21 RBI and scored 34 runs while leading the team in most batting statistics.
Tucciarelli was selected as the 2016 Player of the Year by the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) following the season. She also was named to the Academic All-OCCAC Team.
