2.) Emergence of Some Young Talent
A lot of resources under Sashi Brown were spent drafting a ton of players in hopes that with a lot of darts and going young, some talent was going to emerge. 2017 saw some young guys becoming building blocks for the future of the organization. Joe Schobert had big shoes to fill as the starting MLB and he was nothing short of special. He was tied for the league lead in tackles and was named to the Pro Bowl as an alternate. David Njoku had a decent rookie season. He struggled with protection and drops but he did lead the team in touchdown receptions. As the youngest player on the team, he has great potential as he continues to grow as a person and player. Emmanuel Ogbah had a better 2018 with a switch to 4-3 defensive end and was a strong supporter in the run game where the Browns saw a huge jump. Briean Boddy-Calhoun although undrafted has emerged as one of the top nickel corners in the NFL and allowed very few completions to receivers he was covering. All of these players show there is talent being produced that can shorten the rebuild time.
