5.) The Giants Are Going All In
Nobody made a bigger splash on day one than the New York Giants and I like what they are doing. The Giants are littered on holes all over defensively with needs at pretty much every position. Today they went out and signed four guys on defense. The best signing they had was Janoris Jenkins. The Giants allowed more passing yards than any other team so they go out and get possibly the top unrestricted free agent corner in Janoris Jenkins for 5 years and 62.5 million. I
I think that is a very reasonable price for the top corner on the open market. The rest was spent on the defensive line. They improved the pass rush bringing back Jason Pierre-Paul on a one year deal and giving the highly in demand Oliver Vernon 5 years and 85 million. While I think they overpaid for Vernon, getting a 25 year old pass rusher who has recorded at least 6.5 sacks each of the last three years will go a long way. On the interior, they add “Snacks” Harrison to eat up the run with a 5 year 46 million dollar contract. The Giants shelled out a lot of money today but they are going all in. With all the improvements on the line, they can be set up to possibly take Ezekiel Elliott, the RB some consider to be the best player in the draft at 10. They could also look to add another defensive player. Either way the Giants are trying to win in 2016.
