What are you predictions for the second half of the season, including playoffs?
Matt Medley: The Cavs will be in a close race with Toronto and Boston for the number one seed in the East, but Cleveland will get the one seed. Chicago, Toronto, and Boston are all capable of taking the Cavs to a six-game series, maybe even seven, but the Cavs will win the East. As of right now, I don’t see the Cavs dethroning the defending champions, who are well on their way to breaking the record for most wins in a regular season. A lot can happen between now and June, but we’ve been saying that since November and Golden State has not slowed down yet.
Eddy Jansen: Assuming Toronto and Boston don’t acquire any superstars, the Cavs path to the Finals will be uncontested through the East. But again, the biggest roadblock will once again the Warriors, a team that no one has been able to stop. The Cavs and Warriors will re-match in the Finals, and it will be a better series throughout, but Golden State still has way too much fire power.
Adrienne Goehler: Cavs should not lose more than 10 games the second half, and that’s not asking for a lot for a team who’s expected to be back in the Finals. The games they do lose, I’d rather see them fall in close games, but play with the new system than die with the iso basketball when things get tough. It’ll be crucial to their success. I know they can run through the East, but it’s going to take team ball, unselfishness, and optimal focus to get it done in the end.
