4.) Add Another 3-Point Shooter Or Interior Player
The trade deadline is Thursday and watching some of the teams in the West, the Cavs must make a trade if they want to beat those teams in the Finals. The two areas that would make the most sense are adding another big man or 3-point shooter. When we look at the current big men on the team, there are only four that play in the rotation. Anderson Varejao and Kevin Love have also dealt with a recent injury history. If one goes down, that leaves the team with only three.
In the recent game Love missed, Richard Jefferson was the next man in to play the four. Combine that fact with some of the interior defensive struggles the Cavs have and it makes even more sense to add another player here. Finding one on the market is going to be the harder part. The easier position to improve would be getting another compliment shooter. JR Smith has been the go to guy for this team from three, shooting 40.2% from three and has hit the second most three pointers in the NBA in 2016. Other guys off the bench like Matthew Dellavedova and Richard Jefferson have shot well, going 43.2% and 39.5% respectively.
While these guys have done their part, you can never have enough shooters, especially when people struggle. LeBron and Kyrie are having the worst three-point shooting of their careers at 27.7% and 29.5%. Hopefully they will heat up in the second half but if not adding another guy who can make points in a hurry would be a great addition.
