Cleveland Browns Seven Round Mock Draft V1

Tyler Matakevich

Round 3 Tyler Matakevich ILB Temple
He’s one of my favorite guys in the draft. He doesn’t have the great physical traits you want and that’s why he goes somewhere on day two. What he does have is great instincts. The guy recorded 100+ tackles every year at Temple and has made plays forcing fumbles and getting interceptions too. Productivity can make the difference. Guys who were high tackle players but maybe not the most athletically gifted have had NFL success. Chris Borland and Luke Kuechly come to mind as high tackle college players. He would plug into the middle to help the Browns poor run defense and he was also considered a team leader and great locker room guy. The Browns need some kind of leader to step up on the defense.

Round 4 Max Tuerk C USC
If Alex Mack leaves in free agency then Cam Erving starts at C. Combine that with Mitchell Schwartz being a free agent and John Greco still starting at RG and offensive line concerns have to come up. Tuerk would be a great solution to these problems. He played all over the line at USC which gives him versatility the Browns can need. Erving is the most vulnerable and if he struggles, Tuerk can be called in to replace him or move to guard if somebody else goes down. He had a season ending knee injury that will hurt his stock and is undersized at around 270 pounds but he is really athletic and would provide the Browns with some much needed depth to a line that allowed the second most sacks in the NFL.

Round 5 Jerell Adams TE South Carolina
Browns TEs not named Gary Barnidge caught eight passes for 74 yards in 2015. The Browns whiffed on the position in the 2015 draft so they will need to try again here. Adams seems to be a love or hate guy. I’ve seen some with him being as high as the number two TE and others having him as a late round pick. Either way the Browns would love to get him here. He’s a little lean at 244 and his college production wasn’t great but the QBs at South Carolina weren’t great either. If he can develop he can be another pass catcher the Browns need but would need to bulk up some and improve his blocking.
