Love is the second-best player this season on the team with the best record in the Eastern Conference. Last season, the Atlanta Hawks had four players on the All-Star team.
Love has played in all 44 games this season, 26 of which the Cavaliers were without Irving.
Before Irving made his debut, the Cavs were 17-7, in first place in the conference. Much of that credit deserves to go to Love.
The Miami Heat are 25-21 on the season and currently hold the 7th seed in the East.
The Atlanta Hawks are 27-20, in 3rd place in the conference.
For three players, Love, Bosh, and Millsap, who have similar numbers, the team’s record should serve as a tie-breaker. The slight advantage that Bosh and Millsap have over Love in scoring is balanced out by the fact that Love has more competition to deal with on the team in terms of points to go around, and is a superior rebounder to both of those players.
If team success is taken into account for the Atlanta Hawks to have four All-Stars in 2015, then team success should be taken into account to recognize two All-Stars, LeBron and Love, on the 2016 Eastern Conference team.
