LeBron James continues to set records, this time off the court, with Nike. James and Nike reached an agreement for a lifetime shoe deal today, considered the first ever for a single athlete in the history of the company.
James, now in his 13th season in the NBA, has 13 signature shoes out, in an addition to other kicks and athletic apparel.
“We can confirm that we have agreed to a lifetime relationship with LeBron that provides significant value to our business, brand and shareholders,” a Nike spokesman said.
“We have already built a strong LeBron business over the past 12 years, and we see the potential for this to continue to grow throughout his playing career and beyond.”
The partnership began when James was just preparing to enter the draft, and inked a seven year, $90 million deal with the Nike brand before being selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers.
You can consider this yet another successful of-the-court partnership for James, who considers himself quite the businessman, and is active in getting involved with the economics outside of basketball. All of his investments, partnerships, and endorsements has set himself and family up for nothing less than a life of royalty and security.
