2022 Greater Cleveland Sports Awards Honors Athletes

Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse was the venue for the Cleveland Sports Awards on March 23. The set up was gorgeous and intimate, giving guests an up-close look into 2021’s greatest sports athletes.

The annual event is the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission’s largest fundraiser. Their presence of enhancing and creating sporting and competitive events in the community is unparalleled.

This year’s list of finalists and winners for the 2021 year were as follows:

Finalists for 2021 Male High School Athlete of the year:

Drew Allar – Medina HS Football – winner

Tommy Bebie – Rocky River HS Football

Danny Young Jr. – Shaker Heights HS Basketball

Finalists for 2021 Female High School Athlete of the year:

Kathryn Randorf – Gilmour Academy Volleyball – winner

Lanae Riley – Archbishop Hoban Basketball

Alayna Tessena – Highland HS Volleyball

Finalists for 2021 Male Collegiate Athlete of the year:

Alex Phillip – John Carroll (STVSTM HS) Cross Country – winner

Dustin Crum – Kent State (Midview HS) Football

Marreon Jackson – Arizona State University (Garfield Heights HS) Basketball

Finalists for 2021 Female Collegiate Athlete of the year:

Adelaide Aquilla Ohio State (Magnificat HS) Track & Field – winner

Dayna Denner Univ of Toledo (Cuyahoga Heights HS) Softball

Julia Walz Bowling Green (Brooklyn HS) Volleyball

Finalists for the 2021 Professional Athlete of the year:

Myles Garrett – winner

Darius Garland

Jose Ramirez

The event was a spectacular showcase of the talent of Northeast Ohio athletes. The city encompasses the grit and passion that were shown by the finalists and winners.
