2nd Round
The Cleveland Browns have two picks in this year’s second round. They own their own pick and one from the Titans.
TE OJ Howard Alabama
Once again the Browns can look at QB or offensive lineman but there still isn’t a lineman worth taking in one of the worst NFL drafts at that position and why bother on a second tier QB instead of seeing what somebody like Kessler can do with a full offseason with first team reps. Instead the Browns select the best TE available in this draft. Howard brings size at 6’6” 250 pounds and a lot of athleticism. He isn’t the greatest blocker but has improved in that regard. The Browns need some production out of TEs not named Gary Barnidge. Over the last two seasons Barnidge has 134 catches for 1,655 yards and 11 touchdowns. Over that same two year span the rest of the Browns TEs combined for 21 catches for 222 yards and 3 touchdowns. The offense needs another weapon that can draw attention away from the other receivers and give the QB another big body to target.
CB Cordea Tankersley Clemson
I love the secondary class in this year’s draft. I firmly believe there could be a solid 10-12 corners taken in the first two rounds alone. Lucky for the Browns they could sit back here and draft one of the good ones that fall and continue to solidify that defense. Joe Haden has struggled tremendously at CB but the front office believes in Jamar Taylor enough to give him an extension and Briean Boddy-Calhoun looked solid for a rookie. The only problem is they have nothing outside of that so depth is a big issue. Tankersley isn’t the most polished corner but he has a lot of good traits and size. At 6’0” 200 pounds he would become the biggest corner on the roster.
