S Jamal Adams LSU
The Browns biggest weaknesses are QB and interior offensive line. Mitch Trubisky will be gone before this pick comes around and I’m personally not a big fan of the QBs this year. Drafting one high means the team has to stick with that QB for the next few years and Kessler becomes a waste of a third round pick. Personally, I hate forcing QBs and would rather build the rest of the team up. With no lineman worth this pick either, it comes down to Mike Williams at WR or Jamal Adams/Malik Hooker at safety. Safety to me is a bigger need and Jamal Adams is a rare talent as a do it all safety so he gets a slight edge over Hooker. He excels in run coverage and being able to come up near the line of scrimmage but he is also great at covering TEs one on one and playing deep safety as a center fielder. There are not many well-rounded talents like that available. Looking at the best defenses in recent times, the 2000s Ravens (Ed Reed), 2000s Steelers (Troy Polamalu) and the 2010s Seahawks (Earl Thomas) all had an elite safety anchoring those defenses. The Browns have a chance to get an elite pass rusher and safety in one draft.
