1. Steph Curry : Golden State Warriors
He’s the best player on the best team in the NBA, with a chance to have the best regular season record of all-time. Curry leads the league in scoring, averaging 29.4 points per game. He is knocking down a record-pace of 4.8 three-pointers made per game, shooting 45 percent from deep, and .506 percent from the field overall.
Curry has made 221 three-pointers in 49 games. The next player on the list is teammate Klay Thompson, who has made 72 fewer. Barring injury, Curry will break the NBA record for three-pointers made in a season, which he already owns. And for anyone who wants to knock his defense, Curry is fourth in the NBA in steals, averaging 2.15 per game. He’s the reigning MVP. Defending champion. Having the best season of his career that could be argued to be deserving of “Most Improved Player.” And his team is arguably the most improved team in the league compared to last season. Everything about the season he is putting together is unreal. And as great as Westbrook has been it’s not even a question at this point who deserves the honor of being considered the league’s best point guard.
Later this week, we’ll analyze whether or not that means Curry is the best player in the league. Thanks for checking out the Write Down Euclid 2015-2016 Mid-Season Rankings! We’ll begin our awards portion of the series tomorrow!
