3. One of the Greatest Matches in Professional Wrestling History
It was a clinic, and a match that wrestlers like Chris Jericho and plenty of others have called one of their favorite matches of all-time. The match of course was Ricky Steamboat against Randy Savage for the WWF Intercontinental Championship, an amazing match that went 14:35, with just about all of it being memorable.
Built on an amazing feud that had started that November, Savage vs Steamboat was a bout between two of the best wrestlers in the company, and while Steamboat was the face and eventual winner of the match, Savage truly was the star, as he dictated the match, called the spots and put it together on a legal pad.
Savage was so specific about the match he even made sure to get the right official, that being Dave Hebner, who always was so dramatic in his pinfalls it just added to the match. Over the years there’s been plenty of matches that ‘stole the show’ at WrestleMania, but this match is got to be there in the top 2-3 of the greatest Mania matches of all-time, if not the greatest.
