2. The Very First WrestleMania ‘Show Stealer’
A lot of people will point to WrestleMania III’s match between IC Champ Randy Savage and Ricky Steamboat as the first Mania ‘show stealer’ in the history of the event, but that first show stealer took place at Mania 2 in the final match in Chicago between tag champs Greg Valentine and Brutus Beefcake as they took on The British Bulldogs.
There was no doubt that the Bulldogs were the new young hot team in the WWF, and already in a couple matches against Valentine and Beefcake it was apparent these four could wrestle and have good matches.
As fans in Chicago settled in following the 20-man Battle Royal, they were treated to the best match on the card, as both teams went at it for a solid 13:03 (second longest match of the night) with non-stop movement as well as number of false finishes.
The only downfall to this match was the ending, which saw Davey Boy Smith smash Valentine’s head into that of The Dynamite Kid who was for some reason up on the second rope.
Kid fell back, and hurt his back in the process, and Smith covered Valentine for the win which seemed almost like a botched finish.
No matter, this match still to this day 30 years later holds water as a very good tag match that didn’t get the due it deserved, and it should go down as truly the first Mania ‘show stealer.’

I actually knew this because I had 2 record from Showtime. I accidentally recorded over it but still had a little bit with showtime symbol on it.
