4. The Rock vs Triple H – WrestleMania 2000
WrestleMania 2000 (aka WM 16) ended with a clunky four-way main event that seemed to focus more on the McMahon family (anyone remember the ‘McMahon in every corner’ saga) than the four men that were set to do battle for the WWF Title. Triple H was the champ, and he had just sent Mick Foley into retirement with two great matches at the Royal Rumble and No Way Out. The Rock had won the Royal Rumble, and in doing so eliminated The Big Show to win the event.
It seemed to set up what was going to be the best possible match for Maina – a one-on-one for the WWF Title. Instead, Vince and his merry men got involved, and it turned into a ‘four way’ with adding The Big Show and Foley into the match. While at the end it came down to The Rock and HHH with HHH going over after Vince turned on The Rock, it should have been those two from the start, instead of adding Show and Foley to the match.

I disagree completely on Hogan vs Flair. Even as a nine year old mark I didn’t want to see that match and loved it when it was changed to Macho Man vs Flair. Also disagree on Triple H vs Cena 2. Absolutely hated Trips back then, so seeing him in another WM title match would have crapped me out. Warrior vs Hogan 2 would have been fun, but then we wouldn’t have gotten the awesome Warrior vs Savage career ending match. Would have been interesting to see what would have happened with Macho though.
