6. Hulk Hogan vs Rowdy Roddy Piper – WrestleMania I
The very first WrestleMania was a risk on so many levels, but the hottest feud in all of wrestling leading up to that fateful day in 1985 was Hulk Hogan fighting for rock and wrestling against his biggest foe – Roddy Piper.
The two had a wild match on MTV in February known as ‘The Brawl to Settle it All,’ and with Paul Orndorff and Mr.T getting involved, it set up the tag match that eventually took place to end the show at the first Mania.
Would Hogan vs Piper had gotten the mainstream attention if Mr.T wasn’t involved in the match?
No.
But, there was for sure ways to get Mr.T involved in the card in a big role that still would have drawn a lot of attention.
Another part of the reason that Piper vs Hogan at Mania never happened – neither guy wanted to have their shoulders on the mat for three seconds. Silly, but true.

I disagree completely on Hogan vs Flair. Even as a nine year old mark I didn’t want to see that match and loved it when it was changed to Macho Man vs Flair. Also disagree on Triple H vs Cena 2. Absolutely hated Trips back then, so seeing him in another WM title match would have crapped me out. Warrior vs Hogan 2 would have been fun, but then we wouldn’t have gotten the awesome Warrior vs Savage career ending match. Would have been interesting to see what would have happened with Macho though.
