29.) NFL Divisions Matter
Looking at which division a particular team plays in should not be overlooked. Six of their sixteen games will come against that division. Once again defenses come to mind. Picking a defense like New England who plays Buffalo, Miami, and New York six times per year doesn’t sound too bad since those teams tend to have better defenses than offenses. While picking a defense like the Panthers who have to face Drew Brees and the Saints, Julio Jones and the Falcons, and Winston and his big receivers sounds less enticing. The same thing can apply for offenses. The secondary for Seattle and Arizona are so good that the 49ers and Rams WR’s might have less value than someone like AJ Green who gets Joe Haden, William Gay, and Jimmy Smith six times per year. If the division is weak against something, bump that player up a few spots and vice versa.
30.) Balance Your Keeper Team
This one goes out to the people that have enough consistency in their leagues to do a keeper league. Make sure to balance out your team and think of the future while winning for today. If you can keep some guys that are going to be beasts for the next few years make sure to keep them and draft some guys that might be a little older to help you win now. If you’re still holding onto the Brady’s and Romo’s out there, your gap is closing and it’s better to be in the new than the old. Sometimes it’s best to move on and get value while you can before it is too late and have a core of young talent you can retain for years to come.
