Timofey Mozgov is less than seven months removed from winning an NBA Championship and signed a four-year deal worth $64 Mil. last summer, joining the Los Angeles Lakers.
Even with that ring and the lofty contract, the Russian center misses Cleveland.
“To be honest, I miss that place. Everything was special,” Mozgov told 60smol.com.
“So far we got some tough losses. But I think we’ll soon play the same as we played in the beginning of the season. Be together and enjoy the game. We’ll be good.”
The Lakers are off to a 15-26 start and there were no practical reasons for the Cavs to pay Mozgov $16 Mil. per year.
The 30-year-old made the best choice from a business standpoint.
However, it just goes to show that even for NBA players, money and LA sunshine aren’t the keys to happiness.
Mozgov received a warm welcome when the Lakers arrived in Cleveland and he was presented with his championship ring on Dec. 17.
His championship teammates also mobbed him in the process.
